St. Xavier High School: Monthly Newsletter

February 9, 2015

It is with deep regret that we inform you about a recent loss to the St. X community. Over the weekend, sophomore Grant Egbers took his life. We have been working with the Egbers family and they have given us permission to communicate this information to the St. X community. This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our students. We are saddened by this loss to our St. X family and will make every effort to help you and your child as you need.

St. Xavier has professional grieving counselors trained to help with the needs of students, parents, and school personnel at difficult times such as these. These professionals will be available for any student, family member, and faculty or staff member who may need or want any type of assistance surrounding this loss. In addition, we are bringing in outside help to work with our students and faculty.

We wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with helpful and needed resources relating to the tragic loss experienced by the St. X community.  We will have a parent resource meeting tomorrow afternoon to talk with our parent community and answer any questions you may have regarding student death.  I will send another email with information as soon as it is available.

In times like these, many parents are looking for ways to address difficult events with their children.  We hope that the information and resources provided below will be helpful to your family, in addition to the support we can provide here to students at St. X.  The resources will also be placed on the parent portal under the tab Parent Resources.

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.

God Bless,

Terry Tyrrell

Principal
